Summer heat to last until 3rd week of May - PAGASA

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – The scorching heat currently experienced by Filipinos all over the country is expected to continue due to prevailing easterlies or winds coming from the east, the weather bureau reported on Thursday.

The hot and humid weather in the country may last until the third week of May which is when the rainy season is expected to kick in, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

PAGASA weather forecaster Gener Quitlong said the warm

weather is still bound to persist for the next couple of days since the low pressure area (LPA) has moved away from Philippine territory and would no longer affect Mindanao.

The weather until Friday consists of sunny to partly cloudy skies and possible isolated rainshowers in the afternoon or in the evening due to localized thunderstorms. The over-all temperature would be consistently hot and humid.

PAGASA added that winds blowing in Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to occasionally rough due to winds ranging from moderate to strong blowing in from the east to southeast.

Other parts of the country would be experiencing light to moderate winds coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas, the weather bureau added.
