MANILA, Philippines - A fire of still unknown origin struck a residential area in Western Bicutan, Taguig City on Tuesday night and left one person hurt and at least 14 houses damaged.
The Taguig City Fire Department identified the injured as Roger Abrasado who sustained first degree burns on his arms and upper body as he fled from his burning house.
The blaze which reached the first alarm left at least P150,000 in damages, the Taguig City Fire Department said.
Initial investigation showed that the fire started at about 8:40 p.m. and quickly spread through houses built of light materials.
Firefighters from the Taguig City Fire Station immediately rushed to the scene and put the fire out by 9:45 p.m.
Meanwhile, Taguig City-Department of Social Welfare and Development head Evelyn Arago said they have extended assistance to the families displaced by the fire.
The displaced families are now housed at a temporary relocation site in Western Bicutan near the Philippine National Construction Corporation compound.
