Ex-Batac mayor dies at 74

BATAC CITY, Philippines – The former mayor of this city, Jesus Nalupta Sr., died of heart attack at the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center Sunday night. He was 74.

Nalupta was a member of the board of the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative and a consultant for barangay affairs of Batac City.

He served as Batac mayor from 1988 to 1997 and in 2001 to 2007.

Running unopposed for his third and final term, Nalupta allowed his son, Jeffry, to substitute for him last October. – Teddy Molina, Raymund Catindig
