MMDA to repair EDSA 'til Easter Sunday

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will start its repair of EDSA and other major roads in Manila, Quezon City, Caloocan and Makati on Maundy Thursday until Easter Sunday.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Assistant General Manager for Operations Emerson Carlos advised motorists to avoid these roads that will be repaired and re-blocked.

The MMDA identified the roads that will be repaired as the following: (in Quezon City) North Avenue crossing Mindanao Avenue (Center Lane), along EDSA from Cloverleaf to Oliveros Street (Southbound 5th Lane), along EDSA from Highway 54 to end of underpass (southbound).

(In Mandaluyong) Along Ortigas Avenue from Connecticut to Notre Dame Street.  (In Makati) Along EDSA from 7-eleven near Estrella footbridge to Guadalupe footbridge. (In Caloocan) Along EDSA from Asuncion Street to the MCU hospital (northbound lane), and Along EDSA from Benin street to Urbrano Plato Street.

Carlos added that portions of  Nicanor Reyes Street from C.M. Recto to España; San Marcelino Street; Nicanor Reyes street from España to C.M. Recto both in Sampaloc, Manila will also be repaired from March 28 until 5 am of April 1.

According to Carlos, the road works would include sidewalk repair, drainage system improvements, asphalt overlays and pothole patching.

Carlos also advised motorists to use alternate routes as heavy traffic is expected at the said areas.
