QC flashflood displaces 127 families

Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - At least 127 families were affected by the flashflood that hit a community in Quezon City during heavy downpour Sunday night.

Reports said 20 families in Purok Uno, Upper Nawasa, Brgy. Commonwealth, Quezon City had already vacated the area around 8 p.m. Sunday night after a heavy downpour that flooded the place.

The affected families have stayed temporarily with other houses in the neighborhood in higher grounds because the evacuation center in the area was still closed that time, reports added.

As of this posting, the flood water in the area reached two feet deep and has yet  to subside.

Residents in the area said the congested drainage system has caused the flooding.
