CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Three police officers were relieved from their posts after they reportedly extorted money from three young drug users they arrested in a raid in Dasmariñas City, Cavite three weeks ago.
Sacked were PO3 Edmund de Castro Camino, P03 Richard Medalla Ramos, and PO1 Jason Ticao Ilano, all intelligence operatives of the Dasmariñas City police.
Chief Superintendent Benito Estipona, Calabarzon police director, also ordered the dismissed lawmen to submit themselves for investigation by the Regional Investigation and Intelligence Division (RIID) here.
“We would not tolerate them for their illegal activities,†Estipona told The STAR.
Members of the RIID failed to arrest the three lawmen in an entrapment operation.
The three police officers raided the house of one of the victims at Vista Bonita Subdivision, Barangay San Jose last March 4, and arrested a certain Socrates and the three young drug users.
The three minors were brought to the Dasmariñas City police station where the three lawmen reportedly asked them to give a huge amount of money in exchange for the dropping of the charges against them.
