ILOILO CITY, Philippines – A misunderstanding while playing pusoy, a card game, led to the killing of two men and wounding of three others in Maasin, Iloilo last Saturday, police said.
The victims, Roger Aloquin and his brother-in-law Fernando Alifonso, were both declared dead on arrival in the hospital.
Police said Aloquin had a verbal tussle with Alifonso, who wanted to leave after winning the game, but Aloquin prevented him and then stabbed him.
Alifonso’s mother Felisa and wife Gina intervened but they, too, were attacked.
At that juncture, Alifonso’s brother Jolly joined the fray and stabbed Aloquin, who also managed to hit him.
Alifonso’s mother, wife and brother are still confined in the hospital.
