NPA commander nabbed for extortion in Agusan

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – A 32-year-old man claiming to be a commander of the New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested on Friday for allegedly extorting money from a business establishment in San Francisco town.

In a report of the San Francisco police to the Caraga police office, Ramil Tenebro Loreno, who introduced himself as “Kumander Robert” was arrested during an entrapment operation launched by the police after receiving a complaint from South Island Trading in Barangay 2.

An envelope containing P1,000 marked money was recovered from the suspect.

Loreno had written the management of South Island asking for “revolutionary tax.”

The suspect is under the custody of the San Francisco police.
