ALAMINOS CITY, Philippines – In a rare display of unity, three rival mayoral candidates and their respective running mates declared their all-out support for the re-election of Gov. Amado Espino Jr. right at the turf of his opponent here Thursday.
Former first district Rep. Jesus Celeste of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), first district board member Teofilo Humilde Jr. of the Centrist Democratic Party of the Philippines, and Vice Mayor Cesar Manzano of the United Nationalist Alliance who are all vying for the mayoral post here were joined by their respective vice mayoral bets and 23 candidates for city councilor in backing the re-election bid of Espino, who is running under the NPC-Biskeg na Pangasinan.
The display of support came six days after President Aquino himself endorsed here the gubernatorial bid of Mayor Hernani Braganza under the Liberal Party.
