Bet says Holy Week should be time for reflection

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - As the 90-day campaign period nears the halfway mark, the advent of the Holy Week brings with it a chance for the whole nation to reflect on the Christian values of sacrifice, unconditional love and forgiveness.

Senatorial bet Grace Poe said aspirants for elective office, their families and supporters also get a welcome respite from political bickering that has kept much of the country enthralled over the past several weeks.

"We all deserve a break from politics and the inevitable muckraking. After the tragic events in Sabah and in the face of challenges ahead, this country needs time to pray and thank the Lord for His gift of redemption,” Poe said.

Poe said that regardless of differences in party affiliations and advocacies, all the candidates should  remain focused on the goal to unite the people in the pursuit of better governance and collective economic progress.
