MANILA, Philippines -- Weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration on Tuesday said the summer season will bring days with temperatures of up to 35 degrees Celsius this month.
PAGASA said warm winds from the east or the easterlies and the high-pressure area would become the dominant weather systems in the country.
Weather Forecaster Mario Palafox said the ridge of the HPA extending over Luzon would become more active duringthis time of the year and would block the entry of the northeast monsoon towards the country.
With the presence now of a ridge of the HPA that extended over Luzon, Palafox noted that wind pattern shifted its direction to easterly and southeasterly.
“And this shift in wind pattern signifies the start of warmer days,†he added.
According to Palafox, the HPA, which is the opposite of the low-pressure area (LPA), is a weather system consisting of warm air circulating over the Pacific Ocean.
He said that both the HPA and the easterlies will bring high temperatures and good weather conditions to the country in the coming days.
Palafox said that temperatures in the country could climb up to 35 degrees Celsius before the end of the month and may even become warmer next month.
However, he added that passing rains, especially in the afternoon or evening, are still possible due to localized thunderstorms or convections.
"Weather conditions will be mostly sunny associated with warm and humid air in most parts of the country aside from isolated rain showers and thunderstorms,†Palafox said.
He added that PAGASA also expects “zero to one†storm to affect the country this month.
