Aquino okays 25-year franchise for Olongapo power company

The Philippine Star

OLONGAPO CITY, Philippines – President Aquino has approved the much-needed privatization of this city’s power distribution infrastructure which would pave the way for its modernization.

Olongapo Mayor James Gordon Jr., who is vying for the first congressional district of Zambales as the candidate of the Liberal Party, welcomed Aquino’s approval of the franchise, saying the Olongapo Electricity Distribution Co. Inc. will modernize the city’s power distribution system and rehabilitate its infrastructure.

Gordon said the privatization guarantees that Olongapo will have an adequate supply of electricity, and continuous service delivered to residents and local businesses.

Aquino granted a 25-year franchise to Olongapo Electricity Distribution Co. Inc. last March 1 through the signing of Republic Act 10373.
