Disqualification case filed vs Nueva Ecija congressional bet

Manny Galvez - The Philippine Star

CABANATUAN CITY, Philippines – A petition was filed before the Commission on Elections yesterday to disqualify the 32-year-old daughter of Rep. Rodolfo Antonino, who is running for congresswoman in the fourth district of Nueva Ecija, who is said to be an American citizen.

Magnolia Rosa Antonino-Nadres, a resident of Barangay Langla in Jaen town, is running under the National Unity Party founded by her father.

Pedro Fajardo, 51, a resident of Barangay Mallorca and Desita Garcia, 57, of Barangay Mambangnan, both government employees, filed the disqualification case against Nadres.

They said Nadres’ certificate of candidacy states that she was born in San Mateo County in California. Nadres is also a holder of an American passport and registered as a voter in Jaen only in 2006, they said.

The petitioners attached a certification issued by the Bureau of Immigration on Feb. 22 to prove that Nadres used an American passport in her travels since 1996.
