More erring metro cops dismissed from service

Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - More Metro Manila policemen were sacked from service for various administrative and criminal cases against them, the National Capital Region Police Office bared on Wednesday.

NCRPO director Leonardo Espina said  he signed last Monday the order to dismiss from police service 19 cops, demotion of nine, and suspension of 29 other law enforcers based in Metro Manila.

Dismissed cops included SPO4 Jose Del Rosario Dela Peña, Jr. formerly assigned with Quezon City Police District, who was already dismissed from PNP service on Sept. 12, 2012 when he was found guilty for robbery extortion raps filed against him by a retired military general.

After  the Dela Peña case was  reported by the media, two more complainants surfaced and filed cases of robbery extortion against him.

Andrew Alito complained that the cop extorted money from him on May 22, 2012 while Cesar Caceres was victimized on July 21, 2012.

Espina said that NCRPO enforced these sanctions after thorough investigation by Summary Hearing Officers and reviewed by the Regional Investigation and Detective management Division, and Discipline, Law and Order Section.

The latest batch of sanctions brought a total of 95 cops dismissed, 31 demoted and 104 suspended since Espina implemented his campaign in cleansing NCRPO of erring policemen from Sept. 7, 2012.
