MALOLOS CITY, Philippines – Ninety-six-year old Lucio Celestino Daguno had much to thank a security guard at SM mall in Valenzuela City for.
The guard, Julieto Santino, of the Panther Security Agency, found the nanogenarian’s clutch bag containing P26,060 in cash and promptly returned it.
Gladyz May Latiza, public relations officer of SM City Marilao, said Santino found Daguno’s brown clutch bag containing the money and his senior citizen ID in a gutter at the mall’s parking lot last weekend.
The mall’s Customer Relations Service office lost no time in getting in touch with Daguno’s son and daughter whose contact numbers appeared on his senior citizen ID.
Last Monday, Daguno, accompanied by his children, got his clutch bag with the money back.
The incident is not the first time that a security guard at SM Valenzuela was cited for honesty.
Last year, guard Domingo Pulod returned nearly P43,000 in cash to a Chinese national, and before that, P5,000 and valuables, including a cell phone, to another mall patron.
