MANILA, Philippines -- The government's implementation of the K to 12 program means a looming drop in enrollment among most universities.
"Many universities will experience a drop in enrollment...," said Edler Panlilio, Sales Director of Oracle Philippines.
The K to 12 Program covers Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education six years of primary education, four years of Junior High School, and two years of Senior High School or SHS.
According to the Department of Education (DepEd) the K to 12 program aims to provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship. The program is patterned after the K to 12 program of the United States and Canada.
As several colleges and universities face the impending gap, Panlilio said there is a need to have an effective education solution.
An enterprise software vendor, Oracle offers its Higher Education Solution for schools to have a full constituent lifecycle solution that involves recruiting, enrollment, financing, student life, lifelong learning, advancement, completion, and retention programs.
"Such lifecycle solution serves as key to institutional success," Panlilio said, noting the solution deals with analytics, business operations (campus solutions), institutional administration, among others.
Panlilio said AMA Computer University is the first adapter of the Oracle campus solution in the Philippines in 2009.
The business operations of the higher education solution cover student administration, and constituent management including auxiliary applications. Oracle had its first customer for Higher Education in 1989 and is now catering to over 800 campuses in more than 20 countries including all of the top 20 academic universities worldwide.
