ILOILO CITY, Philippines – A school district supervisor and her 10-year-old grandson were shot and wounded by two motorcycle-riding men in Pavia, Iloilo yesterday morning.
Police said Pasensia Jovero, 63, was driving her Toyota sedan to bring her grandson to school when the two men fired at them just a kilometer from their house in Barangay Pagsanga-an.
Witnesses said the backrider initially fired a warning shot, but when Jovero did not come to a stop, the man fired another shot, hitting the Department of Education official.
The bullet hit Jovero’s chest, exiting through the right portion of her abdomen. The same bullet pierced her grandson’s left leg.
“It could be a case of mistaken identity,†said Senior Inspector Dante Dumaguing.
Police though were also considering robbery as a motive behind the attack.
