MANILA, Philippines - The number of persons caught violating the Commission on Elections gun ban reached 1,253, the Philippine National Police said on Thursday.
The PNP also reported that of the figure, nine were soldiers, 13 were cops, 14 government officials, 74 security guards and the rest are civilians.
Police personnel also confiscated a total of 1,230 high and low powered firearms since Jan. 13, when the gun ban started to be implemented.
The PNP also said authorities have seized 42 gun replicas, 336 bladed weapons, 56 grenades, 306 explosive devices and 5,970 various types of ammunition. - Dennis Carcamo
