MANILA, Philippines - A Caloocan City court sentenced two Chinese men to a life term in jail for selling an estimated 40 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu during a sting operation two years ago, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said on Tuesday.
PDEA Director General Arturo Cacdac, Jr. said the Caloocan City Regional Trial Court Branch 120 Judge Aurelio Ralar, Jr. found guilty Chinese Qinggou Nian and Dave Go of selling illegal drugs during a buy-bust operation.
Cacdac added that the court also ordered Nian and Go to pay P10 million each for the offense.
On Feb. 1, 2011, operatives of the National Capital Region Police Office nabbed the two Chinese during a buy-bust operation that led to the confiscation of approximately 40 kilos of high-grade shabu worth P200 million.
Cacdac said PDEA is pleased with the consecutive resolutions of drug cases against foreigners in favor of the government.
Recently, a 53-year-old Korean was sentenced to life imprisonment for selling capsules of ecstasy.
"The favorable rulings of the court on drug cases greatly complement the efforts of law enforcement officers who risked their lives in arresting drug personalities," Cacdac said.
