Gov't employee nabbed in Zamboanga drug bust
MANILA, Philippines - A government worker holding the eighth spot in the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency's (PDEA) list of drug personalities has been arrested in Zamboanga del Norte.
PDEA chief Arturo Cacdac said Jujit Olvis, 38, a casual government employee, of General Luna Street Estaka, Dipolog City was nabbed by operatives during a sting operation last February 15.
Cacdac said Olvis was arrested by the elements of the PDEA Regional Office 9 during a buy-bust operation near his residence, where he was caught selling shabu placed in a small heat-sealed plastic sachet to an undercover agent.
Olvis also yielded five pieces of small heat-sealed plastic transparent sachets of shabu weighing about 2.4 grams with a street value of P8,000.00, and various drug paraphernalia; two pieces of P500 peso bills marked money; three mobile phones; a piece of tin cover and an empty vial of lidocaine.
"The arrest of Olvis is a significant accomplishment in our anti-drug campaign in the province of Zamboanga del Norte," Cacdac said.
The seized pieces of drug evidence were brought to Zamboanga del Norte Provincial PNP Crime Laboratory for quantitative examination.
The suspect is now temporarily detained at Dipolog City Police Station detention facility.
