2 invited for questioning on killing of cop identified with Siman

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna, Philippines  – Two persons, including a businessman,  were invited for questioning over the killing of a junior police officer identified with slain suspected gambling lord Vic Siman Saturday night, police said yesterday.

Senior Superintendent Pascual Muñoz, Laguna police director, said a certain Jun Mendoza, a cousin of slain Police Officer 2 Rufino de Ocampo Mendoza and an unidentified woman were summoned by a special investigation team headed by Calamba City police chief Superintendent Caesar Tannagan.

“The two were invited… But we have no grounds to hold them so we decided to release them,” Muñoz said.

He said two men also surfaced yesterday to identify the gunmen.

Muñoz told The STAR that they would release the sketches of the suspects in the next few days.

He said investigators are looking at possible rivalry for control of illegal gambling in this city, love triangle and family feud  as possible motives for the killing.

Mendoza was having a meal in an eatery at Crossing here when two men on a motorcycle pulled over and opened fire with a caliber .45 pistol at around 10:45 p.m.
