Cops destroy marijuana shrubs in Koronadal

The Philippine Star

COTABATO CITY, Philippines  – Policemen uprooted Sunday more than a hundred fully-grown marijuana shrubs planted in between orchard trees in a secluded barangay in Koronadal City.

Inspector Joel Carlos Madrid of the Koronadal City police, said they learned of the presence of the marijuana farm from villagers that sent them text messages about it.

Barangay folks said the owners of the marijuana farm, Cristituto Suela and his relatives, Elmer Suela and Gilna Suela, fled when they sensed that policemen, armed with assault rifles, were already closing in.

Madrid said the marijuana plants were uprooted and hauled to the regional police crime laboratory in Gen. Santos City.

Madrid said corresponding criminal cases shall be filed against Suela and his relatives at a local court.  - John Unson
