‘Put 4 CamSur towns, city under Comelec control’
LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) was asked to put four towns and a city in Camarines Sur under its control amid intense rivalry among the mayoral candidates there.
Senior Superintendent Jose Culver Sison, Camarines Sur provincial director, said he recommended to Comelec regional director for Bicol Romeo Fortes to put the towns of Bula, Lupi, Pasacao, Siruma and the city of Iriga under Comelec control.
Sison said the political situation heats up in Lupi town after the brother of Mayor Raul Matamorosa, who was shot dead in Naga City last October, decided to run against Vice Mayor Jovy Osabal.
Mayor Sandy Ondis will again be pitted against Nonito Vier in Siruma while in Iriga City, the contest is between Alfelor cousins Ronal and Emmanuel Jr.
Police are monitoring the activities of New People’s Army guerrillas in Bula town while the mayoral race in Pasacao town is expected to be tight between Mayor Asuncion Villamente-Arsenio and Councilor Niño Tayco.
