Group to hold surprise motel inspection on V-Day

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Members of a children's welfare advocacy group on Thursday will hold a surprise inspection of motels in Manila in line with the celebration of Valentine's Day and the National Consciousness Week against Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation.

Akap Bata partylist members will hop from one motel to another around Sta. Mesa in Manila to remind owners and operators of the provisions of the law which prohibits minors from entering such adult establishments.

The group will seek dialogue with motel owners and management of various motel establishments in the area and look for signage that reminds the public that people below 18 years old are banned from entering their premises.

They will also ask motel personnel about their measures to ensure that all of their customers were not minors.

The group will bring and post tarpaulins on the establishments, carrying their warning and reminder to the public that no minors must be allowed to enter motels.  - Dennis Carcamo
