Cop slain in Quezon road mishap

TIAONG, Quezon, Philippines – A police officer died and five others were injured in an accident along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Lagalag in this town Monday afternoon.

Senior Police Officer 2 Isagani Tibayan suffered head and body injuries when the car he was driving collided with a van (VAZ-327). He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Peter Paul Hospital in Candelaria town.

 Tibayan’s companion, SPO2 Rudy Miguel suffered injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Tiaong town.

Initial investigation showed that the van hit an Isuzu jitney then a tricycle before it collided with Tibayan’s vehicle.

Three passengers of the tricycle –Ricky Bores; Jhay-em Villanueva, 5; Kim Aika Villanueva, 3; and Alma Atienza, 36, all residents of Tiaong town – were among the injured. – Michelle Zoleta, Ed Amoroso
