Fil-Canadian boy, nanny snatched in Zambo Sur
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Armed men snatched a one-year-old Filipino-Canadian boy and his baby-sitter in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur yesterday morning, authorities said.
Superintendent Julius Muñez, Pagadian City police chief, confirmed the kidnapping but begged off from providing details.
Reports said the nanny, Caroline Remetre, was taking her ward for a stroll at Rosario Homes Subdivision in Dao district, Pagadian City when men aboard a blue car seized them at around 9 a.m. yesterday.
Police suspect that the kidnappers were the same ones who barged into the house of the boy’s family last Jan. 24 and carted away some valuables.
Chief Superintendent Juanito Vaño, Region 9 police director, said he was optimistic that they would recover both victims.
Last Dec. 9, Vaño said a six-year-old boy snatched in Barangay San Jose was rescued hours later by alerted police units in the nearby town of Aurora in Zamboanga del Sur.
