MANILA, Philippines -- The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will train more motorcycle cops to intercept "riding-in-tandem" criminals who were behind a rash of crimes in the metropolis in the past few weeks.
NCRPO Director Chief Supt. Leonard Espina said Thursday that they are upgrading their skills to ensure that they would be able to go after criminals using motorcycles in perpetrating illegal activities.
“We will teach our motorcycle cops new tactics, skills, and knowledge to counter the threat of these riding-in-tandem criminals,†Espina said, adding they are coordinating with civilian motorcycle experts in training their personnel.
At least 59 policemen have completed a 15-day Executive Motorcycle Riding Course at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City where they were taught such skills as evading traffic hazards on the highway, passing safely between columns of vehicles and how to react during dangerous situations while on board a motorcycle.
