ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - Three people were injured when a bomb exploded in a parking area near a restaurant in Tubod town, Lanao del Norte, before noon Monday.
Brig. Gen. Daniel Lucero, commander of Philippine Army’s 103rd Brigade, said the bomb was believed to be rigged to a motorcycle parked near another car in front of Ismael Restaurant in Barangay Poblacion along the national highway in Tubod town.
Lucero said the bomb exploded at around 11:15 a.m.
The three victims were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Sultan Jhony Tawantawan, former mayor of Salvador town in the same province, was inside the restaurant with his lawyer, Yusop Omar, at the time of the bomb explosion.
Tawantawan believes that he was the target of the bomb.
Police investigators have yet to determine the motive and the people behind the attack
