Boy Scout killed, 4 hurt as jeepney falls into Ifugao canal

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – A 13-year-old Boy Scout was killed and four others were injured when the jeepney they were riding plunged into a deep canal along a provincial road in Aguinaldo town in Ifugao province last week, reports said yesterday. 

Police identified the fatality as Laurence Bandao while fellow scouts, Shuriff Bongalan and Richard Domangeng; their teacher, Evelyn Ananayo; and the  driver, Ronald Balajo; were critically injured.    

Reports said the driver lost control of the vehicle while going downhill.

The Department of Education cancelled the Boy Scouts Jamboree set from Jan. 31 to Feb. 4 because of the incident.
