ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - A businessman was gunned down inside the public market in Salug town, Zamboanga del Norte on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Police Senior Supt. Nelson Eucogco, spokesman of the Police Regional Office (PRO), identified the victim as Suelo Gallogo, 50, a businessman and resident of Poblacion East in Salug.
Witnesses said the victim was on his way home after checking his stall when the unidentified gunman shpt him at about 4:45 p.m. killing him on the spot.
Police said stunned market goers and residents inside the market scampered as the triggerman casually escaped among the crowd.
Responding police recovered three empty shells suspected to be ammunition fired with the use of a caliber .45 pistol.
Authorities were looking on several angles including business interest which may have triggered the slaying of Gallogo.
