Cordillera police net 7 gun ban violators

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Seven election gun ban violators have been arrested and charged in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), police reported Monday.

Superintendent Dave Limmong, spokesperson of the CAR police regional office, said one suspect was arrested in Baguio City while the rest were in Abra and Mountain Province.

Limmong said that the political situation in Kalinga Province remains peaceful and orderly.

The province had been listed as one of the areas of concern during the elections because of records of poll-related violence in the past.

Limmong said that some of the seven gun ban violators were arrested at Comelec-supervised checkpoints and some were arrested during patrol operations.

"The vigilance of the PNP against all forms of criminality shall be sustained," he said.
