MANILA, Philippines - A bridge that would link Quezon and Aurora provinces will soon be constructed, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) announced yesterday.
The groundbreaking ceremony of the Umiray Bridge was held last Wednesday.
DAR Undersecretary for Support Services Jerry Pacturan said the P468-million bridge project will spur rural development, ease poverty and ensure food security through improved trade and commerce between the two provinces.
“This project is the culmination of a three-year consultation and planning conferences between and among all concerned national and local government agencies in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency, which shoulders the bulk of the cost at P368 million,†Pacturan said.
The project is part of the secondAgrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project implemented in Umiray in 2004.
