COTABATO CITY, Philippines – The mayor of Mlang town in North Cotabato has tagged two school bullies in the killing of a public school teacher who had reprimanded them for carrying guns in the campus.
Mlang Mayor Joselito Piñol declined to identify the two as they are both minors.
The victim, Mark Shenan Duerme, 25, a teacher of Lepaga National High School, was cruising a barangay road on a motorcycle in Mlang when the teenage suspects, also on a motorcycle, shot him with a .45-caliber pistol, killing him on the spot.
Piñol said Duerme had reprimanded the two students, who have long been complained of for bullying their classmates, for carrying guns in the school campus.
Barangay officials said one of the two suspects is a son of a Moro bandit wanted for heinous crimes who is hiding in a secluded area in the Liguasan Marsh.
