Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA City, Philippines - An inmate, who became an errand boy of jail guards at the Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Jail, escaped from detention on Wednesday night last week.

Prison security guard Restituto Sumlog said that Roland Tomabok, 26, who was convicted of theft, was asked to buy eggs outside the detention facility.

Tomabok was an errand boy and a "trustee" prisoner at the provincial jail located in Barangay don Jose Aguirre in Manukan town.

“The prisoner who was ordered to buy some eggs took his chance to escape,” Superintendent Nelson Eucogco, spokesman of police regional office here.

Manhunt operations have been launched for the immediate arrest of the escaped prisoner.
