COTABATO CITY, Philippines - North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza offered additional P200,000 to the P400,000-reward being offered in exchange for any information leading to the arrest of the killers of Kabacan vice-mayor Policronio Dulay.
The chief of the Kabacan municipal police, Supt. Leo Ajero, said he is confident the P600,000 reward will hasten the arrest of Dulay’s killers.
Dulay, who was to seek his third and last term in the May polls in Kabacan, was gunned down by two men two weeks ago while on his way out of a department store at a commercial district in the municipality.
The municipal council of Kabacan first offered last week P200,000, which was raised three days later by P200,000 more from Kabacan Mayor George Tan's own pocket.
“We are grateful to Gov. Mendoza for adding P200,000 more to the reward money,†Ajero said.
Dulay, a retired policeman, was the supposed running mate of Tan, who is also seeking his third and last term as Kabacan mayor during the May local polls. - John Unson
