Kidnapped boy, 10, rescued in Quezon; 3 suspects arrested

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A 10-year-old boy kidnapped in Luisiana, Laguna last Jan. 10 was rescued early yesterday morning by joint elements of the Philippine National Police-Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) and the local police in Tayabas City, Quezon.

Three suspects, identified as Emerson Ocado, Rhoderick Abella, and Bryan Abella, were arrested during the rescue operation, said Senior Superintendent Rene Gumban, PNP-AKG acting director.

Gumban said the suspects refused to release the boy even after his family had paid the P65,000 ransom.

The boy and the suspects were finally tracked down in a safehouse in Barangay Ilayan, Tayabas City, and at around 2 a.m. yesterday, officers of the PNP-AKG and the local police swooped down on the hideout. – Mike Frialde, Ed Amoroso
