MANILA, Philippines - A gunman shot dead on Tuesday a businessman in Marikina City despite the implementation of the nationwide gun ban in line with the upcoming mid-term elections.
Quoting police investigators, a radio report said the armed suspect shot Mark Joseph Ang Luna in the head while the victim was waiting for a ride at Barangay Concepcion 1.
The gunman casually walked away from the scene, the report said.
Police said the suspect, who wore a black jacket, used a caliber .45 pistol in killing Luna.
The nationwide election gun ban, which effectively suspends the permits to carry firearms outside of residences, has taken effect last Sunday.
