TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – The mayor of Luna town in Isabela was suspended for six months for alleged abuse of authority.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan ordered the suspension of Mayor Manuel Tio, who was accused of ignoring appeals to pay back wages to municipal officials, whom he dismissed but were reinstated by the Civil Service Commission.
Provincial board presiding officer Cesar Puruganan in announcing the suspension order – which was recommended by the committee on laws and investigation headed by Karen Abuan– also ordered its immediate implementation.
