NCRPO sacks 3 more erring cops
MANILA, Philippines - The National Capital Region Police Office on Tuesday announced that it has dismissed three rookie policemen from the service for administrative and criminal charges.
NCRPO chief Director Leonardo Espina has approved the sacking of Police Officer 1 Jason Tiamson and Police Officer 1 Tristan Mariz Gutierrez for robbery extortion, and Police Officer 1 Ablason Gabriente for infidelity in the custody of prisoner.
Records showed that Tiamson and Gutierrez's dismissal stemmed from the complaint of Kim Byung Woo on July 19, 2012 when two cops barged inside Woo's residence and asked for his business permit.
When Woo failed to show his business license, the policemen demanded P20,000.
Having only P6,000 in Woo's pocket at that time, the policemen forced Woo to withdraw from his bank account using his ATM card to complete the amount.
After Woo gave the money, the two policemen went back to his house and also took his Olympus camera and Rayban sunglass.
Meanwhile, Gabriente was assigned to guard a suspected thief, Jenny Lazaro, on Apr. 26, 2009. The following day, Lazaro managed to escape while under Gabriante's custody.
In related developments, the NCRPO also demoted Senior Police Officer 2 to a lower rank while six policemen were suspended for various administrative charges.
The six cops are SPO2 Rolando Cartalla (falsification of public documents), PO3 Sancho Dichoson Jr. (violation of Republic Act No. 9262 or violence against women and their children), and PO1 Ryan King Gonzalez, PO2 Edgardo Taguiam, PO1 Alejo Donguya, PO2 Amado Pangilinan for being going on absent-without-official-leave or AWOL. - Dennis Carcamo
