4 nabbed as kidnapped trader rescued in Bulacan
CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines – A businessman was rescued and four of his alleged kidnappers were arrested in Barangay Balasing in Sta. Maria, Bulacan yesterday.
The suspects were not yet identified as of yesterday, Senior Superintendent Joel Ordona, Bulacan police director, said.
Gurtej Singh, 36, a resident of Baliuag town, and his wife, Kulwinder Kaur, 35, were taken by armed men in Cristo, Pulilan, Bulacan last Dec. 22.
Kaur was released on Dec. 29 to raise the P10-million ransom that the kidnappers had demanded.
Reports said the suspects cut one of Singh’s fingers and sent it to his family to prove that they would kill him if no ransom is paid.
The family of the victim paid the first tranche of the ransom in Rizal province.
The suspects were arrested during a raid on an abandoned piggery when the remaining ransom was supposed to be paid.
Police recovered a caliber .45 pistol, a caliber .38 revolver, a fragmentation grenade and a cellular phone.
