More than 500 families in South Cotabato were affected by a flood caused by heavy rains last Sunday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.
In a report released on Monday, NDRRMC said the flood hit seven barangays Esperanza, Poblacio, Lapus, Liberty, San Jose, Simsiman and Matapol, with a total of 526 households.
"There has been a report regarding overflowing of rivers which affected seven barangays," NDRRMC Executive Director Benito Ramos said.
"There was no evacuation conducted and water level has instantly subsided after a few hours," he added.
NDRRMC said there have been reports of damage to agricultural crops, a bridge and other properties. The municipal disaster risk reduction and management council is still assessing the amount of property damaged by the flood.
Local disaster management offices are continuously monitoring the rivers in the area to provide timely updates to residents.
