Kidnapped teacher in Zamboanga freed

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A public school teacher kidnapped in this city was released yesterday.

Chief Superintendent Napoleon Estilles, Western Mindanao police director, said Flordeliza Ongchua, 47, was recovered by security forces near a market on Marina street in Jolo town around 9 a.m.

Estilles said the victim would be flown back to this city today.

Investigation showed that suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits freed Ongchua along the highway in Indanan town.

Ongchua’s family would not say whether ransom was paid.
