Mike Frialde - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Makati City policemen arrested a tricycle driver who stabbed a taxi driver after his tricycle was accidentally bumped by the taxi while reversing in Barangay Singkamas on Sunday night.

Sr. Supt. Manuel Lukban, Makati City Police chief, said responding policemen arrested 60-year old Monico Eres after he stabbed 56-year old taxi driver Ferdinand Olipas along Kalayaan Avenue at about 7:30 p.m.

Investigation showed that Olipas was about to park his taxicab and was reversing when it hit the tricycle driven by Eres.

Police said a heated argument then erupted between the two that ended with Eres drawing out a knife and stabbing Olipas in chest and lower abdomen.

Responding policemen from the barangay Police Community Precinct led by Police Officer 3 Roy Salvacion then arrested Eres and seized the knife from him.

Olipas meanwhile was rushed to the Ospital ng Makati for treatment and was declared out of danger.

Eres was taken to the Makati City Police headquarters where criminal charges are being readied against him.
