Cops seize P.5M worth of illegal firecrackers
COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Policemen seized on Monday P500,000 worth of powerful firecrackers from a clandestine dealer in a raid in Koronadal City.
Workers of Ibrahim Sy, also known as Henry, voluntarily yielded his illegal merchandise when the team that raided his house in Barangay Gen. Paulino Santos in Koronadal showed him a search warrant issued by Judge Lorenzo Balo of the Regional Trial Court Branch 24 in South Cotabato.
Sy was reportedly out of town when police operatives swooped down on his house to seize the powerful firecrackers, which is banned in Koronadal City.
The Koronadal City police will charge Sy on Wednesday with violation of a local ordinance that outlawed sale of powerful firecrackers in the city, and violation of Republic Act 7183, which regulates the sale, manufacture and distribution of firecrackers and pyrotechnics.
Investigators said Sy did not have any valid business permit from the Koronadal City local government unit .
