LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – A 72-man emergency response team sent by Albay province is the one running the lone hospital serving residents of Cateel town in Davao Oriental, one of the areas hardest-hit by typhoon “Pablo.”
Albay Gov. Joey Salceda said he has told the team, composed of doctors, nurses and paramedics, among others, to extend all the assistance to the typhoon victims.
Salceda said the Cateel Emergency Hospital services five other towns, including typhoon-hit Bangaga and Boston.
The Albay team was among the first groups to rush to Davao Oriental three days after Pablo’s devastation.
Salceda also sent P500,000 cash aid each for Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley. – Cet Dematera, Celso Amo
