Former village chief shot dead

Artemio Dumlao - The Philippine Star

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines -  A former village chairman in Narvacan town in Ilocos Sur was immediately killed on Monday after he was peppered with automatic gunfire right in front of his own house.

Former Barangay Orenze chairman and businessman Jojo Estacio, 38, was in front of the gate of his house when riding-in-tandem assassins, police said, came and fired without hesitation.

Four empty shells of a caliber 45 firearm were found where the former village leader was killed.

The problem of riding-in-tandem assassins have long been pestering both Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte provinces, including other Ilocos provinces like Pangasinan and La Union despite efforts by authorities to curb such.
