MANILA, Philippines - Two earthquakes rocked parts of the Visayas and Mindanao yesterday but did not cause damage or injury, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the tremors, measuring magnitudes 3.0 and 4.8, occurred at 2:26 a.m. and 7:58 a.m., respectively.
The epicenter of the first quake was traced at seven kilometers northwest of Kidapawan, North Cotabato. It was felt at Intensity 2 in Barangay Balabag, Kidapawan City.
The second quake was 10 kms southeast of Ormoc City, Leyte. It was felt at Intensity 4 in Ormoc City, Dulag and Tolosa, Leyte; Intensity 3 in Tacloban City and Palo, Leyte and Intensity 2 in Leyte, Leyte.
