Fireman selling shabu nabbed in GenSan

MANILA, Philippines - A fireman from General Santos City, who allegedly moonlights as a drug pusher, was arrested by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during a buy-bust operation.

PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the suspect as Fire Officer 3 Luisito Motong, 50, of Sampaguita Street, Barrio Bla’an, Barangay Labangal, General Santos City.

Motong is an active fire officer of the General Santos City Fire Station.

An agent who posed as a buyer met with Motong on the night of December 12 near the Bureau of Fire Protection's station along Santol STreet, Barangay Dadiangas North.

"Upon the pre-arranged signal, PDEA agents immediately rushed to the scene and apprehended the fireman,” Cacdac said.

Cacdac said that the fireman was a high value target "because of his notoriety in pushing shabu in the area."

Motong faces charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II, of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

He is temporarily detained at the PDEA RO12 custodial facility awaiting court order for proper disposition.
