Cargo truck rams store; 2 dead

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Two men were killed while four others were critically wounded when a wayward truck loaded with bags of cement for a road concreting project smashed into a store in Baggao, Cagayan, authorities said.

Police identified the fatalities as truck driver Maximo Gludobe Jr., 36, and laborer Crisanto Javier. Hurt were laborers Jerry Tapulao 17; Joel Vista 16; and Manuel Soduesta, 40; and storeowner Imelda Ramos, 41.

Reports said the cargo truck suffered mechanical trouble as it was speeding downhill, causing it to crash into Ramos’ store.
