Another Ilocos Norte mayor faces suspension

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines  – Yet another suspension is seen to be issued against another town mayor in Ilocos Norte after Pagudpud town mayor Maja Sales was slapped a four-month suspension after she was found by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan guilty of grave misconduct.

Pasuquin Mayor Victoria Aguinaldo is to be suspended before the 2013 polls after the provincial legislative body has reportedly finished hearing administrative raps against her and is about to hand over its decision.

Last May, another Ilocos Norte town mayor was temporarily “axed” from his post after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan meted him three months suspension in connection to administrative raps over his failure to quickly approve the clearance for the terminal leave pay of slain Adams municipal treasurer Elpidio Sy.

Adams Mayor Eric Baoingan, who went back to his post on August, did not question his suspension temporarily taken by vice mayor Wagner Poking

Last year,  Dingras town Mayor Marineth Gamboa was removed from office by the Commission on Elections after it ruled that the mayor was disqualified from the 2011 elections for being a “fugitive."  The town’s Vice Mayor Erdio Valenzuela took over as the town’s chief executive.

Gamboa, however, dreams to regain her post from Valenzuela in the 2013 polls, still insisting she is not a fugitive.

Valenzuela, however, has filed a disqualification case against Gamboa’s candidacy.
